Visit Gantheaume Point and, at high tide, dip in the beautifully round pool that was handmade by a lighthouse keeper for his wife, Anastasia. She was crippled with arthritis and found relief in this pool built by her love. On a very low tide, be surprised by 130 million year old Dinosaur footprints frozen in time, some 30 metres out to sea.

The specially designed Buddha Sanctuary features a 3.5 metre Buddha, hand-carved from Philippines crystal. The Buddha’s position has been carefully chosen to promote health and healing. Try a yoga or tai chi class or enjoy this idyllic spot to read or reflect on life.

The Old Zoo Cafe is always worth visiting. Set back from Cable Beach, the Cafe is part of what was once the Pearl Coast Zoo. The animals may be gone, but the refurbished Cafe offers a different kind of zoo on a plate. Try the famous Kimberley taste plate of kangaroo, crocodile, barramundi, pearl meat and camel.

The Japanese Cemetery is an immaculately restored part of Broome’s history near Cable Beach, dating back to the very early pearling days. There are 707 graves, most with unusual headstones of coloured beach rock.

Rested and ready for adventure? Willie Creek Pearls is one of 18 pearl farms in the West, and the only one offering award winning tours and a unique insight into modern cultured pearling. Malcolm Douglas’ Crocodile Park started as a research centre and is now is home to Australia’s finest display of crocodiles. Take a guided feeding tour and see the incorrigible crocs that have been relocated to the Park for causing disturbance to outback communities. Displays include hatchlings, alligators, Nile and freshwater crocodiles, as well as the famously ferocious saltwater variety.

Hear about the history of pearling, enjoy a gourmet meal as you cruise at sunset, or take a day cruise to ride the boom nets, climb the rigging and view dolphins and whales as they swim along the coast.

The fishing is great on Cable Beach, so throw a line in in the shallows or take a fishing boat charter and catch your dinner. There is always Kimberley Kayaking, a unique Cable Beach fishing experience where you can try your luck on a guided kayak fishing tour.
